TASTING NOTES Awaken your senses with this full bodied Lodi Syrah! Aromas of dark cherry, bacon and spice introduce smokey layers of white pepper, ripe plum, and cigar box.HISTORY The Phillips brothers planted one of the first Syrah vineyards in California in 1982. With Michaels son Kevin continuing the Phillips grape growing tradition into the 6th generation, this Syrah vineyard was one of the first he tended to as our Vineyard Manager. If you turn the bottle around you will see Kevins eye looking out from the inside of the bottle, making sure the wine is being enjoyed!GROWING CONDITIONS An unusually hot summer gave way to the earliest harvest Lodi had seen in 8 years as we started to press Chardonnay on August 4th, 2014. The 2014 vintage brought its challenges as Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and everything in between reached its optimal ripeness within days of each other, needing to be picked at the same time! Our final lot of Cabernet Sauvignon was picked on October 17th, marking the end of the fast and furious harvest season. – Michael-David Vineyards
