Description
Deeply intense ruby red color practically impenetrable. The nose is ample, complex, elegant, fine, sweet, fruity, and intensely spicy. Sweet, firm and full.bodied on the palate, quite opulent with dense and sweet tannins, well balanced acidity perfectly combined with texture, fat and body of the wine. Long finish with persistent fruitness of small wil berries married to intense and complex spicy tones. Pair with red meats and game as well as hard seasoned cheese.

Wonderfully fresh from the first tilt of the glass, the 2020 Ghiaie della Furba opens with a blend of minty herbs, spiced orange peels and sour cherries. It’s silky and refined with a saturating core of red primary fruits. Hints of sour citrus and tactile mineral tones form toward the close. Edgy tannins tug at the senses as this tapers off long and staining, leaving a pleasant bitter sensation, nuances of cedary spice and a tart cranberry crunchiness. This is taut and thick, evoking plum, leather, loam and rosemary flavors. There are still edgy tannins that leave a sinewy sensation on the finish. In the end, the sweet fruit lingers. Made with a 40% base of Cabernet Sauvignon with 25% Merlot and 35% Syrah (that is aged in barrique for 18 months), the organic Tenuta di Capezzana 2020 Ghiaie della Furba opens to an inky dark appearance with generous black and purple fruits. The wine is broad and rich in texture, with some bitterness in terms of the tannins, and it has end notes of smoked spice and scorched earth. The quality of the tannins in 2020 is on the rough side.
