Triple Gold Medal Winner. Current owner Dominique Vacher initiated the conversion process to Organic Agriculture in 1999. Healthy fruit is a necessary prerequisite, but at Grand Français it is not considered enough to make a great wine. Soil analyses have been made to plant the correct varietal in the correct parcel and everything at the property is done by hand. Being organic means there are humans in the vines every day – to weed manually so as not to use weedkiller and to perform leaf thinning to give the grapes optimum exposure when needed. A lovely organic wine, predominantly Merlot, with 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, where the fruit sings to produce a wine with a complex nose of spice, grilled fruits and wild strawberries.
