2010 , the qualities for an ideal vintage are unitedSpecial features of the Vintage A year marked by very marked seasons with a long and rigorous winter, punctuated by frosts and cold waves between December and mid-February.Fairly comparable to 2009. Spring is consistent with seasonal norms, April and May are bright and sunny. Rainfall is important in June, heat and drought settle in July, August and September. It should be noted that the 2010 vintage is the driest of the decade but remains cooler than 2005 or 2009.The bud break is in early April, the growth is slow and gradual. Mid-flowering occurs in cool, rainy weather that causes dripping. In July, the very dry weather causes a net stop of the growth, essential factor of the quality of the vintage. The exceptionally dry weather and the cool nights give the freedom to harvest each plot and each vine at its optimum maturity level. All the qualities for an ideal vintage are gathered in 2010 early and fast flowering and early seasoning on the Cabernets Francs, the installation of an early and progressive hydric stress from July causing a stop of growth, the complete ripening of the grapes thanks to dry weather and cool nights without excess heat in the day.The tasting of the vintage The dress is dark red, deep. The nose is consistent with this intensity it has aromas of black fruits, blackberries, cherries, mingling with delicate floral notes that give it a certain freshness. The attack is lively, it is prolonged by a soft tannic structure, pleasant, well present, in balance. The finish is tasty, fresh and with a velvety aromatic maturity. – Chateau Quinault l’Enclos*90-92/100 Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate *91-92/100 James Suckling
