Description
Pinot Noir Bertone is the authentic expression of the Oltrepò Pavese, its origins. A still red wine with a Typical Geographical Indication (IGT) produced from a 100% Pinot Noir blend. The Pinot Noir vines, planted on
limestone-clayey soil, enjoy an ideal microclimate, characterized by strong temperature variations between day and night, which allows the
berries to ripen slightly early. An excellent red, the fruit of
vineyards located at 400 meters above sea level, cultivated according to the principles of integrated agriculture with a very low environmental impact. Trained using the Guyot system, the
vineyards produce berries of the highest quality. The Pinot Noir Bertone from the
Conte Vistarino winery is made from Pinot Noir vines imported directly from Burgundy by Carlo Vistarino way back in 1850. The Pinot Noir grapes are harvested and selected strictly by hand, followed by a
red winemaking process at a controlled temperature. Once the integrity of the
berries has been verified, the
crushing process follows, followed by
destemming. The must is then transferred to the fermentation tanks where it is left to
macerate and
ferment at controlled temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C. Frequent
pumping over and
punch-down operations will follow, followed by
draining and
pressing of the
pomace. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation process, the
malolactic fermentation will begin, after which the Pinot undergoes
refinement and
maturation. The result is a dark, rather austere and extremely refined wine, much loved by critics and consumers.
