Description
The name of this wine occurs from the peculiar conformity of the soil as flakes made of tuff that appear where the vines of this excellent Barbera grow. This wine has always been an icon of the Dezzani winery and was born from the will to create a long lasting Barbera which can change and mature over time showing its unique taste. In order to be labeled as Gli Scaglioni, must go trough some fundamental steps. The manual harvest is followed by an accurate selection of the grapes then are quickly brought to the winery for a soft pressing of the skins, in order to extract only the most noble, fruity taste and aromas. After the fermentation at a controlled temperature and a maceration in contact with the skins for at least thirty days, the malolactic fermentation isspontaneously manifested. The wine istherefore ready for a long aging in big oak casks. The Barbera selected to become Gli Scaglioni is left to rest and soften for four years in large barrels of Slavonians oak. The winemaker Luigi Dezzani then decidesif the wine deservesto become Gli Scaglioni. The first vintage produced dates back to 1997.Wine featuresIt has a deep ruby red color with some garnet reflections. It scent isfull of red fruit with notes of chocolate and tobacco.
