Description
A deeper dense purple, with a serious concentration of fruit here. The advantage of the vines which were less ravaged. Then darker fruit, almost a chocolate nose, a little foursquare as per its terroir, small waves of darker fruit coming through behind, a dark plum for example, then an evenly balanced finish between fruit, tannin and acidity.

More crimson than ruby. Some elegance to the red fruit, with some blood orange as well. The iron rich feel continues on the palate, where there is a good concentration of fruit to match the tannins at the finish. This was certainly picked at correct ripeness, and there is some minerality. (09/2025)

Pretty, airy and cool red berry scents are laced with floral and earth nuances that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The nicely rich, delicious and quite vibrant broad-shouldered flavors deliver excellent length on the firm, youthfully austere and balanced finish that is shaped by noticeably firm tannins. This will need at least some forbearance as it’s quite tightly wound at present. (01/2024)

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a very perfumed sensual bouquet with pure red berry fruit, roses and light sous-bois scents that unfold temptingly with aeration. The palate has lighter tannins but feels fresh and tensile. There is some reduction, especially on the blood orange-infused finish, though its refreshing quality is to be admired. I suspect this will kick on with continued bottle age. (NM, 10/2025)
