Description
Located in one of the lesser-known regions of the Languedoc, the Cotes de Thongue, this domaine is nestled in the foothills of the Montagne Noire, on the slopes of the Cevennes just north of Beziers on great wine-producing soils, mostly gravel and pebbles. It has been in the same family for more than two centuries. Since 1977 it has been in the hands of Francoise and Jacques Boyer, who replanted all the vines, introduced modern vinification methods and lowered yields, thus greatly improving the quality of the wines. They farm some 275 acres planted to 16 different varieties. Their Caringole Rose is a harmonious blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah; it has intense aromas of fresh rose petals and ripe pears, with soft tannins and good acidity.
