Description
La Montagnette is a small hill located in excessively clayey soils. Jean-Marie GRANIER, the owner, owns a significant part of his farm there, and obtained his organic farming certification in 2022.
In the vineyard: Even if the number of plots managed on a wire is increasing on his farm, Jean-Marie GRANIER remains an ardent defender of tradition: vines in goblet and manual harvesting. A large proportion of the grapes chosen for his cuvée come from such plots. The backbone of the cuvée is now devoted to Syrah, which finds in Grenache and Mourvèdre the ideal partners for its expression. The clay soil mixed with the pebbles of the old bed of the Rhône naturally offers small yields (30 hl/ha) at optimal maturity.
Blend: Grenache: 50%, Syrah: 30% and Mourvèdre: 20%.
Vinification: Traditional, vatting lasts 3 to 4 weeks. The fermentation temperature is maintained at 20-22°C to optimise the expression of the fruit and to guarantee optimal diffusion of the noble compounds. After 6-8 months of storage in vats, it will be put without fining or filtration.
Tasting: Domaine La Montagnette has a lot of personality, power and depth.
Maturity is expressed by a wide range of aromas: black fruits, notes of jams, spices (cinnamon, liquorice), empyreumatic notes of roasting and toasting and sometimes mineral sensations: graphite, incense. The taste sensations, sometimes abrupt in youth, always evolve favourably with ageing due to tannins of great nobility. Its power is then synonymous with roundness and persistence.

Pairing: A good red meat, perfect with lamb — a rack of lamb Provençal style or Satay lamb skewers!
