Description
Grape varieties 40% Niellucciu, 30% Sciaccarellu, 20% Merlot, 10% Syrah Terroir The soil around Aléria is characterized by its clay sediments left over by the evaporation of the Miocene sea (5 Ma).
Winemaking
The grapes are from a selection of parcels and picked at optimum ripeness levels. They are de-stemmed and vinified according to traditionnal methods at high temperatures of 28-30°C to allow good extraction of tannins and anthocyanins. Maceration can last for up to 3 weeks. The final maturation is 10 to 12 months in stainless steel tanks. Tasting notes Color: Purple, ruby hue, good clarity.
Aromas: Maquis (local scrubland), black olive, currant, a hint of violet, licorice and spices. Palate: Fleshy medium body wine with blackcurrant, fresh blackberry, maquis, licorice and a spicy finish.
Food pairing suggestions To be drunk with charcuterie, grilled meats or wild boar and strong cheeses. Serve between 16° and 18°C
