Description

TASTING NOTES A lavish oak component works well in this dark, intense wine to enhance the concentrated blackberry and black cherry flavors. Full-bodied and richly tannic in texture, the wine is very showy and delicious. – 92 points -Wine Enthusiast, February 2016HISTORY Over the top and shattering to the veins, these wines possess major concentration and daring flavor. The original is the Earthquake Zin which came from an old Lodi vineyard planted around the same time of San Franciscos great Earthquake of 1906. While mulling over a label name in the vineyard, Michael Phillips thought it only seemed fitting to relate this intense wine with the historical quake. these dark and voluminous wines will definitely leave your senses quivering.GROWING CONDITIONS The 2013 harvest started in early August with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for our sparkling wine. The first of our red grapes came in early September, with the later ripening varietals such as Old Vine Zin coming in early October. After a heavy crop in 2012, the 13 harvest was expected to be smaller than average, but we still saw large crop yields across most varietals. Moderate temperatures throughout the summer allowed the fruit to develop full flavors while retaining acidity. – Michael-David Vineyards
