Description
Founded in 1858, legendary Italian producer Fontanafredda proclaims, “Barolo was not born by chance.” Their story begins when King Vittorio Emanuele purchased the estate in the village of Serralunga d’Alba as a gift for “La Bella Rosina,” the woman he loved. The land was so prized, that although Barolo was not yet established as the wine powerhouse it is today, Rosina requested: “If you really love me, give me that estate.” In 1866, he purchased a Nebbiolo vineyard and Barolo began its upward trajectory, with Fontanafredda’s first vintage released in 1870. This 1997 version bears the “Joe Tilson” label.
