In 2015, 83 year old Carlos Lovell of Ivy Mountain Distillery in Mount Airy, Georgia stepped away from his still and entrusted Indianola distilling company with his remaining inventory of Appalachian whiskey. For generations the Lovells made whiskey in Appalachia using heirloom hickory cane, white dent corn, rye, malted barley, and the unique addition of malted corn. The relic of American regional spirits, although similar to bourbon, has a distinctive style all its own. 45% ABV, 90 Proof
