Description
This is a fuller style from Hawke’s Bay and quite different from the rest of the Kumeu range of chardonnays. Bold, ripe peaches dominate the nose and palate. The texture is impressively silky and smooth. Very fleshy and complete. Impressive. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Ray’s Road is Kumeu’s Hawke’s Bay vineyard, and it contains some new clones that are only just producing as of this year. The use of whole bunch, wild yeast and old French oak results in a rich, fleshy fruited and floral wine with a saline undercurrent. Lemon, peach, blossoms, toast and cream are lifted by steely acidity and backed by a lick of oak. A seashell note lingers on the finish. This should age with grace for several years to come.
