Le Chant Rouge
2020
This vibrant wine is a Merlot-dominant blend complimented by
Shiraz and Sangiovese. On the nose one can anticipate fresh floral
aromas, subtle underlying red berries, with spice coming through
as the wine breathes in the glass. The 2020 vintage, characterized
by its elegance, produced a lighter wine with soft tannins and
enhanced drinkability in terms of style.
Winemaker Tasting Notes
Analysis
Alc. 13,5 % | TA 5,68 g/l | pH 3,6 | RS 2,65g/l
Between False Bay and the vineyards of Le Chant, lie only
gently rolling hills –nothing to impede the progress of the sea
breezes inland. The vineyard aspect, most south-west, means
that our vineyards receive the full benefit of the breezes’
cooling nature. This influence allows the vineyards to be
farmed according to organic principles.
Viticulture
Grapes are hand-picked, and transferred to our cellar.
Following fermentation and subsequent maceration, the wine
is blended and transferred to a combination of French barrels,
Foudre, and cement tanks. After aging for a total period of 24
months, a final blend is crafted and bottled. The wine is then
released after a resting period of 6 months.
