Vineyard Heiligenstein
The Heiligenstein with its reddish, weathered desert sandstone and the conglomerates of volcanic components is one of the best Riesling sites in the area. Between the vineyards there is a flora and fauna as is otherwise only to be found in far southern, Mediterranean regions. On the terraces the Riesling thrives in its particularly fine-spicy character. The hard bedrock releases the layer-specific minerals into the grapes and creates terroir-specific wines. The south-facing location in a basin creates a special microclimate which promotes the typical fruit aromas in the Riesling.
