Line 39 started with a simple question, “Can great wine be more than just wine?” The answer is yes. Nestled in the rolling hills of California near the 39th parallel, a group of passionate winemakers came together with a mission: to craft exceptional quality wines that delight the senses and protect the environment and communities we serve.
California Wines
California wine production has a rich viticulture history since 1680 when Spanish Jesuit missionaries planted Vitis vinifera vines native to the Mediterranean region in their established missions to produce wine for religious services. In the 1770s, Spanish missionaries continued the practice under the direction of the Father Junípero Serra planted California’s first vineyard at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
The state produces about ninety percent of the American wine supply and is the fourth largest wine producer among the world’s independent nations. It has more than 1,200 wineries ranging from home-grown and small boutiques to large corporations with international distribution.
85% stainless steel fermentation on French oak, 15% barrel fermentation; 6 months aging in mostly French oak. Our Chardonnay is a rich, medium-bodied wine with hints of oak and lush tropical and stone fruit flavors on the palate. Crisp and refreshing, this wine can be enjoyed with a variety of fish and chicken dishes or all by itself on a warm summer afternoon.
