”WINEMAKERS NOTES Ruby grapefruit and pineapple fruit race through the soul of our 2014 Sauvignon Blanc. The classic honeydew melon is layered with tangerine zest aromas. A decidedly juicy texture brings all the pineapple, grapefruit and honeydew notes on the palate together with the brightness of kiwi fruit flavors. A glass would be a wonderful way to start the evening on the patio unwinding from the day. Brush a flour tortilla with olive oil, spread with goat cheese and fresh herbs before grilling on the BBQ for a quick and easy perfect pairing.VINEYARD NOTES The estate Sauvignon Musque allows for a multitude of aroma profiles in our Sauvignon Blanc. Technically, Sauvignon Musque is a clonal selection of Sauvignon Blanc. In the vineyard, when picked at lower sugar levels, the resulting wines maintain their crisp, grapefruit character. However when allowed to develop the true Muscat flavors in the field, the finished wine shows beautiful honeysuckle and tropical floral notes. Most of the grapes are grown at our two estate vineyards, both located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. Our estate Semillon grapes are harvested to provide a juicy texture and honeydew melon character to our Sauvignon Blanc. Always food friendly, this wine was built in the vineyards and slowly fermented under refrigeration to protect its fruity esters. Careful blending was used to show the vintage at its best.HARVEST NOTES The 2014 vintage in Napa Valley celebrated a near-perfect growing season despite less than receiving less than half the normal rainfall. Late spring rains were well-timed, arriving after budbreak, flowering and fruit set thus powering the vines throughout the season. The harvest proved early for many in Napa, but here at Markham Vineyards our white varieties held a beautifully abundant crop which put us on a normal schedule. We did receive Merlot from practically the first day of harvest which ultimately tested our press management skills. Our wines are extremely aromatic across the board creating a trifecta of amazing vintages of which to be proud.” – Markham
