Sitting at the crossroads of Carneros and Napa Valley, Starmont occupies a portion of the historic Stanly Ranch. Established as a wine growing region over 150 years ago, Carneros and Napa Valley are world renowned for sustainably growing classic Burgundian and Bordeaux wines. With foggy mornings and cool afternoon bay breezes creating the perfect conditions, Starmont wines are essential Carneros.Wine Notes Grown in top vineyards across the Napa Valley, Starmont Cabernet lots were hand selected for their rich and robust flavors and fine tannins. We harvest the fruit in the early morning to preserve the fresh flavors and keep the skins intact. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were carefully sorted and de-stemmed, but not crushed, leaving over 90% whole berries. Our 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon displays blueberry, vanilla, cinnamon, ripe plum, lavender and bramble on the nose. Sweet, soft tannins are framed with fresh acidity and flavors of ripe plum and chocolate on the finish.Winemaking All of the fruit was handpicked and hand sorted. After a cold presoak, the wine was macerated for an average of 20 days, fermented with a combination of wild and inoculated yeasts, and underwent native malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged 24 months in a combination of French and American oak 25% new. – Merryvale
