The 2015 Billi Billi Shiraz is sourced from a selection of premium cool climate vineyards throughout Victoria; predominantly the Grampians including a portion from the Mount Langi Ghiran vineyards, home of the iconic Langi Shiraz. Throughout Victoria, the 2015 vintage provided near perfect conditions for grape growing. A temperate Summer without extremes followed by classic Autumn weather of warm days and cool nights. This resulted in slow and steady ripening, ideal for producing Shiraz of distinctive character. Fresh blueberry, potpourri and a hint of vanilla on the intensely perfumed nose. Shows very good depth and focus to its juicy red and blue fruit flavors, with no excess fat. Round, even tannins lend shape to a very long, smooth, spice-tinged finish that leaves notes of cherry and mint behind. In 2015 the grapes came from the Grampians, Swan Hill and Heathcote areas. It has a medium to full ruby colour with a slight purple tint, the bouquet mellow and forward, showing savoury fresh-earth nuances and a degree of matured complexity. The palate is soft, savoury, medium-bodied and easy drinking, the tannins gentle and light. Its a sweet, ripe, cherry-berried example of north-west Victorian shiraz. Its well polished and well presented, with just-enough flavour and just-enough texture, the finish sealing the deal nicely. Clove and general spice notes make a positive impression too. It doesnt stamp its feet for quality but it does make a good account of itself.
