Description
Still red from Oltrepò Pavese, 14% ABV, produced by Picchioni Andrea. Blend of Barbera, Croatina, and Ughetta. 0.75L bottle, 2020 vintage. A Buttafuoco DOC grown in the Solinga Valley, on sandy-pebbly soil with a southern exposure. The grapes are hand-picked into 20kg crates, with careful selection of the bunches. Vinification involves maceration for at least 20 days. Aged in wooden barrels of various sizes for approximately 24 months. After bottling, the bottles rest horizontally in the dark for at least 6 months before being released for sale. The aromas range from dried flowers to black berries, with hints of dried plum, tobacco, cocoa, spices, and the unmistakable balsamic note typical of the Solinga Valley. On the palate, it has marked, fine-grained tannins and a firm, robust structure. It is full and broad, intense, fleshy and long.
