Description
Richard Luftig started Pied à Terre with winemaker Clay Mauritson to create great wine that doesn’t cost $100 a bottle. Richard feels that “the farmer’s footprint is the best fertilizer and the most important sight in a vineyard”. Hence the name Pied à Terre, which means “foot to earth”. Clay and he believe that the best wines are made in the vineyard, and that minimal intervention in the winery is key to producing a delicious wine.
Pied à Terre is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a number of different vineyards and regions in Sonoma County. The wine was aged exclusively in French oak, 20% of which was new. The wine is intensely aromatic with vibrant red fruits and a touch of smoke and rocks. There is great intensity and freshness to the wine, with subtle tannins and a refreshing acidity. Enjoy this wine with a roast beef or ham.
