Description
Such is described the coat of arms of Adam de Port, Sheriff of Nottingham, grandson of Hugh de Port, a companion of William the Conqueror’s and the earliest traceable ancestor of the Porter Family.
Producing a Bordeaux-style blend has been Tom Porter’s dream since he first purchased the vineyard in 2005. Keeping the original vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot he also decided to replant the hilltop crest with Malbec and Cabernet Franc to complete the quintet.
Today our Barre Azure is a blend incorporating the five traditional grape varieties of the region of Bordeaux with the fruit and finesse found on our Coombsville property.
The labels are created by students at The Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida where the Porter Family winters. Each vintage tells part of the story of the battle of Hastings in 1066 and the students are granted a scholarship for their creativity.
