Round Pond Estate, owned and operated by the MacDonnell family, is a Rutherford farm, winery and olive mill specializing in the creation of pure, expressive wines, gourmet foods and unforgettable farm-to-table guest experiencesall from the heart of the Napa Valley.STORY ABOUT THE WINE Old English for Friends & Family, Kith & Kin is a Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from all corners of the Napa Valley but with its heart rooted in Rutherford. In 1992, the MacDonnell family made its very first barrel of wine using a handpicked selection of Cabernet from their Napa Valley Vineyards. Produced for family and friends, this homemade bottling sparked the MacDonnell familys passion for making wines and became the inspiration for todays Round Pond Estate.TASTING NOTES This Kith & Kin is our boldest Napa Cabernet to date. Beautifully balanced, this wine its intentions known with aromas of fresh red berries, complemented by subtle leather, Floral notes, and sweet French oak. The supple entry teases the mouth with bing cherry, plum, and rhubarb. Adding complexity, the palate rounds out into a creamy cherry pie a la mode with notes of violets, thyme, and nutmeg. The end palate shows a lingering full finish, balanced by fresh acidity and earthy notes with caramel and cocoa.VINTAGE & VITICULTURE The 2013 growing season was early, even, and excellent. Conditions were optimal from budbreak to harvest, which started early throughout the Napa Valley. Ripeness was even and the fruit came in perfectly clean with beautiful flavors. The resulting wines were excellent and showed great balance and richness right away. After a few months in barrel, we selected some of our favorite lots from our Rutherford property to be blended in early spring with some exceptional wines we sourced from neighboring appellations. – Round Pond Estate
