Description
Sommeliers and shop owners often fantasize about making their own wines. Some realize the dream through vanity projects that are forced on friends and colleagues in the wine biz. When the wine really sucks, pallets of it are unloaded into garages and storage lockers just to be foisted upon family members as unwelcome holiday and birthday gifts. We’re happy to report that Boulevard Restaurant wine directors John Lancaster and Robert Perkins were able to use industry connections to produce some really good wine for their Skylark project. Fruit for Alondra is harvested exclusively from Middleridge Ranch in Mendocino County. Winemaking is focused on preserving terroir and purity, so malolactic fermentation is prevented, and no oak is used in the aging process. Alondra is a refreshing approach to California Chardonnay.
Flavor Profile: “Penetrating aromas of green apple, lemon custard and subtle tropical fruits of guava and melon. The palate is sleek and detailed, with just enough flesh and mid-palate presence for pinpoint balance with the natural acidity. The fruit gains momentum into an expansive finish while remaining graceful and elegant.” Producer Notes
