Winemaker Notes
The 2021 vintage of The Stand opens with expansive aromas of violets, black plum, caramel and smoked meat. The palate is broad and chewy, delivering punch flavors of raspberry, black cherry and blueberry with undercurrents of sage, cola, cocoa and vanilla. Plump tannins cascade into a smooth, juicy finish. The native boldness of the Petite Sirah is rounded out perfectly by the Rhone varieties, creating a seamless blend that keeps you coming back for more.
Serve with Korean short ribs.

93 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2021 Audubon Series The Stand is composed of 77% Malbec, 16% Petite Sirah and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and was matured for 12 months in 25% new French oak. The nose explodes with scents of cassis, blueberry, iron, vanilla and turned earth. The full-bodied palate features concentrated, violet-laced fruit. It has a frame of powdery tannins, bursts of mouthwatering acidity and a long finish with a pleasing touch of spice.

The most successful in the lineup is the 2021 The Stand, a blend of 85% Petite Sirah, 9% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, and a splash of Viognier. This ripe, concentrated, yet balanced beauty has lots of darker, spiced black fruits, some leafy herbs, chocolate, and peppery notes, medium to full body, and a balanced, layered style that’s a joy to drink. It would be one heck of a steak house red and is well made.
