During the 18th and 19th centuries, Claret cup punch was all the rage at parties across Europe.This was the early version of Sangria, made from Claret the English name for the red-wine blends of Bordeaux, brandy and various types of fruit. Today, much of the red or tinto Sangria found in the tapas bars of Spain is made from indigenous wines of Rioja, blended with fruit juices and soda water.Chef Christian Gomez of the Wet Stone Wine Bar & Cafe in San Diego, Calif., developed the recipes for his Toreo Premium Sangrias.
