Description
Barolo Ravera is a Piedmontese wine with a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG). This still red wine is made from a 100% Nebbiolo blend. The vines, planted at 360 meters above sea level, are grown in fragile soil exposed to erosion. This highly fertile soil enjoys a breezy microclimate and is characterized by fossil marl interspersed with sandy deposits that are quite rich in iron. The soil composition and microclimate give the grapes a distinctive minerality. The first vintage of Barolo Ravera from the Piedmontese winery
G.D. Vajra dates back to 2010. The grapes used to produce this Barolo are harvested strictly by hand. The harvest takes place in October. During the winemaking process, maceration lasts a total of 45 days, five of which are submerged cap macerations. Malolactic fermentation then follows in stainless steel the following spring. This process is followed by maturation in 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels. The barrel maturation phase lasts 30 months, after which the wine is bottled and released for sale. This Barolo can age in the bottle for up to 20 years. The result is a well-structured wine, a wine with a bold personality and an intriguing flavor.
