Description
Merlot does best when it is produced in hot/dry/clay soil. It is the combination of all of these things that allow Merlot to be a true and constant producer in Virginia. The blend is similar to 2018 with just a touch of Cabernet Franc. The Merlot expresses the truest varietal expression and the dark cherry flavors of Merlot and the Cabernet Franc rounds out the freshness in the fruit character. Merlot in 2019 was very different in its ripening characteristics in the vineyard showing off a great sugar and acid balance, due to a glorious vintage. Ripe fruit, soft tannins and beautiful structure are the hallmarks of this 2019 Merlot.
