Description
Green slate dominates the soil here and the interaction with vines that are up to 75 years old gives the wine more structure and complexity. Spontaneous fermentation and aging in 1500 liter barrels characterize the Reihburg. In the nose the typical spice from Eisenberg, with fresh herbs, coriander and some eucalyptus, a wonderful interplay between ripeness and coolness, sour cherry and plum, powerful, dark and with a fine smokiness. Demanding and dancing on the palate, intense and crumbly tannin, looks really slatey, lots of spice, dark fruit like blueberries and cassis, slightly edgier structure, ripe Blaufränkiers like the 2017 Reihburg are reminiscent of the northern Rhone with their style
