Vintage 2013 is considered one of the finest growing seasons ever in Napa Valley. We could not have asked for better with outstanding spring weather followed by an ideal summer and a harvest with grapes displaying a wonderful balance between ripeness and structure. All of the Merlot grapes were harvested in the first two weeks of October.Wine The grapes were grown in the winerys Estate Vineyard in Rutherford and select vineyards throughout Napa Valley. The fruit was fermented at an average of 85F with gentle pump-overs for excellent flavor and color extraction. The wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 16 months. Whitehall Lane has always utilized the art of blending to make a Merlot with layers of flavors, complexity and balance.Notes This velvety, lush, mouth-filling Merlot has aromas and flavors of blackberries and plum that are expertly balanced by oak nuances and a hint of mocha. The Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend adds beautiful structure and the Syrah adds mid-palate texture and nice spice to the wine. – Whitehall Lane
