Description
This French Chardonnay hales from the appellation of Bugey, in the foothills of the French Alps, nestled north of the Savoie, and south of the Jura. This offering from Yves Duport offers a stunning simplicity and soul. Over generations the domaine has determined that the moraine hillside slopes are best suited for plantings of Chardonnay. The outcome is very alpine-pretty, concentrated, and aromatic. No detectable oak here — picture high alpine wild flowers, crisp yellow pear, and mineral talc accented with the subtle essence of sweet spice (as found in some of my favorite Belgian beers). The ideal accompaniment for comte, raclette, and baguette, trout, or fresh butter.
