Description

”Avignonesi Rosso di Montepulciano is the youngest of our Sangiovese trio, which also includes the Vino Nobile and the Grandi Annate. Bright, fresh and a great introduction to the region of Montepulciano. It has been lightly aged in oak and is perfect for pairing with antipasti. In the summer, it is delicious on its own, served slightly chilled.Soil typeSoil of Pleistocenic origin at Le Capezzine, Lodola and Matracchio; Pliocene origin at I Poggetti, Le Badelle, La Banditella, El Grasso and Greppo.Vine densityFrom 2,564 to 7,158 vines per hectare from 2,080 to 2,480 vines per acre.VinificationThe fermentation was spontaneous with the use of indigenous yeast. Alcohol fermentation and maceration on the skins lasted from 10 to 20 days, depending on the individual lots. Malolactic fermentation took place in large, Slavonian oak casks.Ageing9 months in oak and a minimum of 3 months refinement in the bottle.Tasting notes Medium ruby red in colour, Rosso di Montepulciano 2014 is bursting with bright aromas of strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate. Notes of violets and rose petals complement the flavours of cherry, red currant and white pepper. Adelicate finish of sage and thyme lingers on the tongue.” – Avignonesi
