An intriguing bouquet of black fig, anise and hints of vanilla envelopes a core of raspberry and currants. Bold, rich and concentrated, the rich fruit flavors dance across a rich chocolate base. The wine’s supple texture lingers effortlessly against polished tannins.Winemaker Comments Kunde Family Estate falls within one of the warmest regions of the Sonoma Valley and has great air movement due to our 1,400 vertical feet elevation of our mountain Cabernet vineyards above the valley floor. Due to the tough skins, loose clusters and our sloped vineyards, our Cabernet hung in there just fine through earlier than normal Fall rains. The brilliant fruit and density of this wine shows what Cabernet Sauvignon is capable of, even in a tough vintage year. Enjoy! -Winemaker NotesTraditional red Bordeaux varietals complement the Cabernet in this blend, which include small portions of Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. Our bullet proof Cabernet Sauvignon was left to the elements until the end of October to allow maximum flavor development. Classic French winemaking techniques were used in crafting this Cab; pumpovers were performed twice each day with aeration early in fermentation and were reduced in duration later on in the fermentation process. The wine was aged for 20 months in small French oak cooperage, 39% new, and bottled in June 2013. -Zachary Long, Winemaker
