Description
In
Martignano, a small village located above Trento, the
Maso Martis vineyards have been cultivated since the
1980s, while the company’s actual winery was founded in
1990 from a combination of passion and winemaking experience. The fields are located right at the foot of Mount Calisio at an altitude of approximately
450 meters, at an altitude that allows them to be caressed by the
mountain breeze without being damaged by the cold. The grapes selected for the production of Maso Martis Brut are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, grown organically with full respect for the environment and blended to create a classic sparkling wine with a light yeasty aftertaste. The two grape varieties are harvested strictly by hand and then pressed and processed separately. Their vinification follows different methods, taking place in
steel containers for the
Pinot Noir, while the
Chardonnay is vinified and fermented in
barriques for a period of approximately
eight months. The two types of grapes processed are then blended in different quantities.
70% Chardonnay and
30% Pinot Noir are used, in a perfect balance of flavors and nuances. The product is then aged in steel containers and bottled with added yeasts, no earlier than the following spring. The yeasts are left to act for approximately
24 months, then the wine is subjected to
remuage (turning to eliminate sediment) before being released for sale. Maso Martis Brut is certified organic by the ICEA.
