California possesses a myriad of distinct microclimates, which allows for Chardonnay to flourish in rich and opulent ways. Coupled with fertile soils, the grape variety can take on multiple personalities and provides for compelling and provocative blending sessions. Drawing upon Carneros, the Sonoma Coast and beyond, we chose select lots to barrel ferment and tend with scheduled lees stirrings to add complexity. Previous vintages were augmented with assorted Rhone varieties to serve as blend. The 2013 however, is branded as a Chardonnay for the first time ever thanks to some exceptional vineyard acquisitions. The result of this meticulous hunt for top quality fruit is a wine brimming with characteristic flavors, balance, and elegance.Winemaker s NotesDazzling straw-gold in color, the wine serves up superrich aromas of ripe pineapple, vanilla bean, raw coconut, and honeyed lemon. The entry is supremely lush with complex flavors of roasted fig, apricot, green apple, and orchard fruit.
