Description

THE STORYMany Moscato grape varieties exist, along with many styles for making wine from this versatile grape. But there is undoubtedly only one benchmark Italian Moscato Moscato dAsti DOCG. This sweet wine from the Piedmont region in northwestern Italy is known for its fragrant and aromatic bouquet and low alcohol content, which makes it incredibly pleasant to drinkand widely popular. Ruffino Moscato dAsti, with its frizzante wine style and balanced acidity, is a versatile companion for lunch or dinner fare. It also is lovely to sip on its own or as a dessert wine.TASTING NOTESRuffino Moscato dAsti is pleasantly sweet and fragrant with distinct notes of peach and orange blossoms. This wine is perfectly tempered by the freshness of its refined bubbles. Look for hints of elderberry and wisteria along with a sweet white-fruit finish.FOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONSMoscato dAstis low alcohol makes it a very versatile food companion. It pairs particularly well with almost any type of dessert. A classic Italian pairing is with fresh bread, salami, figs and melon. Moscato dAsti also tastes wonderful with spicy Asian foods.WINEMAKER’S NOTESWe source the grapes for this wine from the Roero, Monferrato and Langhe regions in southern Piedmont. The first stage of Moscato production is a traditional white wine process. The second stage uses the Charmat method in which the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation in tanks and is bottled under pressure to produce light, gently sparkling bubbles and to preserve the fresh, fruit characteristics of the Moscato Bianco grapes. – Ruffino
